Ian Berzins
Ian Berzins was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Thompson Creek Metal’s Mount Milligan Mine in August 2014 and has led the ramp-up in safe production at the mine since that time. Mr. Berzins has over 35 years of progressive experience in open pit and underground mining applications with copper, gold, coal and oilsands. He has experience in engineering and design, maintenance, supervision, human resources, safety and environmental compliance and senior management. Prior to joining Thompson Creek Mr. Berzins served as President, CEO and Director of San Gold Corporation, a gold mining company listed on the TSE and headquartered in Winnipeg. Previously with San Gold he served as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Berzins has held senior management positions with Albian Sands Energy and Suncor Energy Inc. in the Alberta oilsands and served as General Manager of a number of Canadian mining operations including Sherwood Copper (Minto Operations), Harmony Gold (Canada) Inc., Echo Bay Mining (Lupin Operations) and Miramar Mining Corporation (Con Mine). Mr. Berzins received a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario. He is married with three daughters.
